AAU TOURNAMENT RAIN POLICY

When it is determined that pool play can no longer continue due to the inclement weather, the tournament committee shall determine pool standing by the following:

Take the least amount of games played by one team and group the same records together. Take the teams with best records and:

If one team has the best record they are the pool winner.

If two teams are tied with the best record:
See if they played each other in all games played (winner of the game is pool winner.
See if teams have not played each other follow rules 3B, 3C, 3D, substituting the word three (teams) with the word two (teams). Rule 3D no need to pull for the by with 2 teams.

If three teams are tied with the best record:
See if they have all played each other (Team A VS Team B, Team A VS Team C, Team B VS Team C, if one team 2-0 versus the other two he is the pool winner.
If the teams have not played each other, go to least amount of runs allowed in equal games played.
If three teams are still tied, go to the most runs scored in equal games played.
If three teams are still tied, pull a bye winner and flip a coin with the two other teams. Than flip a coin between the winner of the flip and bye winner to break tie.

After pool winner is determined, repeat the process with the remaining teams starting with best remaining record and replace the words pool winner with the next ranking (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.)

If medal round play can not resume, take same rank in each pool and run rain policy tie breaker system between A1, B1, C1, (1st, 2nd, 3rd). Then, A2, B2, C2, (to determine 4th place). If there are only two pools, than run A1 and B2 ( for 3rd and 4th) etc.

EXAMPLE: A

If team A has played 3 games and Team B, C, D & E have played 2 games, than first 2 games by each team, regardless of opponent will be used.

Game 1 winner Team A scored 4 vs loser Team B scored 3
Game 2 winner Team A scored 2 vs loser Team C scored 1
Game 3 winner Team B scored 3 vs loser Team C scored 2
Game 4 winner Team D scored 6 vs loser Team A scored 2
Game 5 winner Team E scored 8 vs loser Team A scored 4
Game 6 winner Team C scored 7 vs loser Team A scored 4

Team A record is 2-0 Pool Winner
Team B record is 1-1 (runs allowed 6) 2nd in Pool
Team C record is 0-2 5th in Pool
Team D record is 1-1 (runs allowed 10) 4th in Pool
Team E record is 1-1 (runs allowed 11) 3rd in Pool
Team A is 2-0 (Best Record) they are Pool Winner

There are 3 teams tied at 1-2. Since the teams have not played each other at least once, (B vs D, B vs E, D vs E) than go to rule 3B - total runs allowed in equal game played. In the first 2 games, Team B gave up 6, Team D gave up 10 and Team E gave up 11. Team B is 2nd in the pool.

Now there are 2 teams tied with best remaining record at 1-1 and they have palyed each other in Game 5, Team E beat Team D head to head, therefore they are 3rd in the pool. Team D is only team with 1-1 record, so they are 4th in the pool.

Team C is only team left a 0-2, so they are 5th in the pool.

EXAMPLE: B

If Team A has played 3 games, Teams B and C have played 2 games and Team D has played 1 game; then the first game played by each team, regardless of the opponent will be used.

Game 1 winner Team A scored 8 vs loser Team B scored 6
Game 2 winner Team A scored 7 vs loser Team C scored 2
Game 3 winner Team B scored 10 vs loser Team C scored 2
Game 4 winner Team D scored 10 vs loser Team A scored 8

Team A record is 1-0 2nd in pool
Team B record is 0-1 3rd in pool
Team C record is 0-1 4th in pool
Team D record is 1-0 Pool Winner

Two teams are tied at 1-0. Team D beat Team A head to Head (Rule 2A); so Team D is the pool winner.
Team A is the only team remaining at 1-0, they are 2nd in the pool.
Two teams are tied at 0-1 and Team B beat Team C head to head (Rule 2A), so Team B is 3rd in Pool..
Team C is remaining, they are 4th in the pool.
